Born in Hollywood, former State Representative Evan Jenne has dedicated his adult life to public service. Upon graduating from Florida State University with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration he worked for both the Memorial Healthcare System and Nova Southeastern University before entering the political arena. He has worked with dozens of charitable organizations including his work as a Board Member of the Florida Ocean Science Institute and President of the Board of the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center for Women. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Broward and the South Florida Holocaust Education and Documentation Center.
Evan was first elected to the Florida House in 2006 and was re-elected twice before being redistricted out of the seat he held. In those six years Representative Jenne ascended quickly through the ranks of the Democratic Caucus, holding the position of Whip for the final five years of his service under three separate leadership teams. He also served as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Broward Legislative Delegation during his last two years in the House.
He has been given numerous awards for his dedication including two Legislative Leadership Awards from the American Cancer Society, the Independent Colleges and Universities All-Star Award, the Florida Fraternal Order of Police State Representative of the Year, the Florida Coalition Against Sexual Violence Legislator of the Year, the Florida Library Association Legislator of the Year, the Broward Young Democrats Legislator of the Year and President’s Awards, Broward County Parent Teacher Association Legislator of the Year, the Florida Association for Insurance Reform Legislator of the Year and, finally, the Policy Holders of Florida Advocate of the Year.
